We begin anew next week with a detailed look at the ongoing drama surrounding the tragic death of Farrah Fawcett. It's hard to believe it's been two years on June 25 since we lost America's favorite TV angel, whose inspiring battle against anal cancer and heartbreaking demise were chronicled so graphically for the May 2009 sweeps in NBC's Farrah's Story. That two-hour "NBC news special" was the subject of an explosive series of recently-settled lawsuits pitting Fawcett's producing partner, Craig Nevius, against her longtime lover, Ryan O'Neal, a business manager and Fawcett's friend Alana Stewart. Now an impassioned group of Farrah devotees have gathered on Facebook to demand the truth about O'Neal's contested takeover of the project (originally titled A Wing & A Prayer) and other sordid allegations about personal and business dealings surrounding Fawcett's demise.
Among the controversial scenes in the final cut of Farrah's Story: son Redmond, in jailhouse clothes and shackles, visiting his mother's deathbed for a final goodbye. Ryan talks about their troubled son, whose first visit to his mother's grave reportedly is recorded by cameras for the new OWN "docu-series" The O'Neals, premiering this weekend on an occasion Ryan's detractors are sure to find richly ironic -- Father's Day.
